LiSTie CEO Hoshino presented at the first session of GTIE SALON, a small-circle program jointly organized by GTIE (Greater Tokyo Innovation Ecosystem) and SAKURA DEEPTECH SHIBUYA, under the theme “New Materials.”
He introduced LiSTie’s ultra-high purity lithium recovery technology, LiSMIC, highlighting its potential to prevent serious accidents involving used lithium-ion batteries and address disposal challenges. The technology also contributes to realizing a circular economy for lithium resources and creating new industries.

Hoshino also joined a VC talk session titled “Supporting the Growth of New Material Startups: Initiatives and Challenges at Each Stage”, alongside Yosuke Yamamoto, Director and Partner at UMI (Universal Materials Incubator), and Koji Sakamoto, President and CEO of Bioworks Inc. The discussion covered the journey from research to commercialization, the challenges faced by startups, and expectations for Japan’s support ecosystem for deep tech ventures.
At LiSTie, we continue to advance the development of our lithium recovery technology, LiSMIC, with the goal of achieving efficient lithium extraction and ensuring a stable supply of this critical resource.
